With the 23th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft the St. Louis Rams SHOULD take Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas
The St. Louis Rams have a great pass rusher in Leonard Little and an offense that can score points on anyone in the league. The problem is the defense gave up over 2300 yards on the ground and over 3000 thru the air.
Anderson would be a tremendous get for the Rams who could groom him as an understudy to a great veteran like Little. Anderson is not the best player in using technique to beat his man, he prefers to outwork or out muscle him instead. He plays to the whistle and is great at causing a traffic jam in run defense. He would be a great at complimenting the rest of a sound defense and help draw attention from Little, if that is even possible.

With the 13th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Saint Louis Rams SHOULD select Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh.
They need a D-lineman in the worst way, but in my "ideal" draft, Branch, Adams, Anderson, Okoye, and Carriker are already gone. On draft day, at least one of those players should be there, allowing the Rams to fill their biggest need. If for some reason none of them are, though, St. Louis could do a lot worse than Revis.
Rookie CB Tye Hill performed solidly last season, but he lacks a reliable partner like Darrelle Revis. The Pitt star doesn't have elite speed when he puts on the pads; his sub-4.4 40 time at his pro day was nice but didn't seem to be reflect how he actually runs on game day. That's about the only real knock against him, though, as he consistently demonstrated an ability to blanket receivers and deny them the ball. He's strong in run support, too.
The Rams also lack an imposing return game, and Revis can contribute right away as a quality returner who knows how to use his blocks to spring a big gain. This could tip the scales his way come draft day, especially if the defensive line crop dries up before their pick.

With the 13th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams SHOULD take Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville Cardinals.
The Rams will be EXTREMELY pleased to have Okoye fall to them. The Rams have tried and failed many times to draft a gamechanging DT. Whether it was Jimmy Kennedy or Damione Lewis, the Rams have never seemed to find that DT with performance that matched their respective draft position. Okoye is the type of player that won't disappoint.
Amobi Okoye is a very young player that started his COLLEGE career at the age of 16. He still has room to fill out his frame, and more than likely shouldn't lose his explosiveness. Explosiveness is what stands out first and foremost when watching Okoye on tape - or in person as Bloom and I did at the Senior Bowl. Speaking of Mobile, Okoye had a great week of practice and really made an impression on most all the scouts and coaches in attendance.
The Rams entire defense would benefit from a better D-Line. Amobi can wreak havoc from the DT position with his great quickness and eye popping spin move. To be a great defense a team must put pressure on the QB, and Okoye can do just that.

With the 13th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams SHOULD take Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville.
The Rams just can't get this lucky, can they? The top player at a position of great need falling to them at 13?
The Rams need a DT, this is indisputable. Damione Lewis and Ryan Pickett have fallen by the wayside. Jimmy Kennedy is still around, but has never lived up to his draft stock. LaRoi Glover is just a rental getting into the waning years of his career, and Claude Wroten is an unknown quantity at this point. The Rams have to come away from this year's draft with some help at DT, because they didn't address the position in free agency. The Rams will take three seconds to get their card up to the podium Okoye is still there, and they'll be wiping the drool from their chin when they do it. Amobi is a true man-child as a 19 year old Senior, but he is far from immature, in fact he was one of the most impressive kids as a person of anyone at the Senior Bowl. The Rams can not go wrong with Okoye and their fans should be thanking their lucky stars if this marriage of need, talent, and value actually comes true.
