With the 23rd pick in the 2007 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs SHOULD take Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolina

Sidney Rice is the second best receiver in the draft. I have gone back and forth between him and Meachem but the attitude and desire to be the man is what separates the two and gives Rice the edge. With the recent retirement of Will Shields the Chiefs have a serious problem on the O-line and I could very easily see Grubbs or Beekman (Boston College and very under-rated) going to K.C.

The Chiefs are also looking at replacing Hall and that would certainly open the door to Ginn going to the Chiefs as well. My take on it is that a true number one receiver is what they are in dire need of and have lacked for a very long time. Big stout O-lineman are sometimes hard to find and the class is not very deep in this years class so a move to improve the line makes perfect sense.

Rice is a baller and he loves being a wide receiver. He wants the ball and the game resting in his hands and that is sooo important when it comes to the position where you have few chances to shine but many to fail. His ability to take hitches to the house will open up the box for the run game and everyone fears L. J. in space.

With the 23rd pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs SHOULD select Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU.

Bowe consistently makes tough catches; in particular, he excels at rising up and snaring the ball in traffic. Bowe also knows how to get himself open, running tight routes with cuts quick enough to open up a step or more between him and his defender. Those qualities combine with his size and hands to make him well worth a 1st round pick...

...especially for a team as starved in the passing game as KC. If Trent Green moves on, either Brodie Croyle or Damon Huard will be lining up under center, and either player would benefit from Bowe's presence on the field. Larry Johnson needs all the help through the air he can get, and Dwayne Bowe looks ready to contribute as an NFL rookie.

With the 23rd pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs SHOULD take Joe Staley, OT, Central Michigan.

Willie Roaf was a mountain of a man at LT for the Chiefs. Without him, they just didn't look the same on offense. Yes, Larry Johnson still had a fantastic year but a franchise LT does a lot more than just help the run game. Roaf was very instrumental in protecting Trent Green, and was a leader for the team on and off the field.

Staley is a great young prospect that would fit in well with what Herm Edwards is trying to do in Kansas City. Staley is a great athlete, with good footwork and nice quickness. Like Roaf, Staley can perform effectively on sweeps. Joe also reacts quickly to multiple pass rush moves, using his hands to keep defenders away from the ball. This pick is like a telegraphed pass from Aaron Brooks. The Chiefs need OL help, and Staley is their guy.

Sigmund Bloom

With the 23rd pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs SHOULD take Justin Harrell, DT, Tennessee

The Chiefs have a mix of competent hard workers and disappointments (Ron Edwards, James Reed, Ryan Sims) at DT. Making the situation worse, their starting LBs are the kind of athletes that need big bodies to keep the blockers from blotting them out at the second level. Now that Harrell's biceps have checked out, he should not fall past the Chiefs pick.

Harrell is a fiery leader and he routinely absorbs and rips through double teams. The Chiefs have been sorely missing a force like Harrell in the middle of their line and should be pleased to have the opportunity to take a player of his caliber in the 20s. If Harrell was healthy for his entire Senior season, he would be rated close to Alan Branch's level.
