Punter run!!
Okay, not really. But we’ve had 2 go in round 4, and given how few punters are usually selected in the foruth, it sure feels like a run — especially when a team trades up for one… which is what the Steelers just did.
Like Podlesh, Sepulveda’s actually an athlete. He was a decent LB in high school and was 9th all-time in NCAA punting average at 44.85 ypg.
I’m surprised that teams are taking punters before Mason Crosby. He’s got the leg to eliminate kickoff returns, and his accuracy is about as good as there is. Punters and kickers don’t tend to go very high in the draft (Jason Elam in the third round was an exception), but to see two punters go before a “best-in-years” place kicker is a surprise.
