2nd Round Thoughts

  • San Diego completely overpaid for Weddle, but don’t be surprised if he makes a huge play at a huge moment to win
a huge game for the Chargers
  • Philly taking Kolb makes me wonder how much mileage they think McNabb has left. You don’t take a guy you expect
to be a career backup in early 2nd.
  • Zach Miller will be a better pro than Greg Olsen
  • Bobby Petrino gets his big blocker to move away from the zone blocking scheme
  • My Miami source told me they loved Ginn and Beck. I need to send him a fruit basket
  • D.J. Boyer from draftstock.com loves calling Chris Houston “the human merry-go-round”. We have seen
Chris Houston get completely turned around 4 times on highlight reels, twice by Meachem, once by Bowe, and once
by Steve Smith. You want to be in highlight reels on draft day, but of the posterized variety
  • What are my Steelers doing taking two OLBs? Is there something about Clark Haggans and James Harrison
    that we don’t know?
  • Minnesota tempting fate by taking another South Carolina WR. I think this one will work out, but I wonder if
Jason Hill or Steve Smith would have been a better pick because they can contribute right away. The Vikings still don’t have
a starting quality WR on the roster, but Rice could be a #1 by 2009
  • Dwayne Jarrett gets to be mentored by the good version of him, Keyshawn Johnson.
  • Eric Mangini takes after his mentor. Don’t let others dictate your draft, get the guys you know you want. Harris is a PERFECT fit as a 3-4 ILB, and he would have been a fit pick at #25 (if they stayed there)
  • The Justin Durant pick makes you wonder how much mileage Mike Peterson has left.
  • Chris Perry may have played his last football game for Cincinnati. Kenny Irons makes a real nice compliment to Rudi Johnson
  • Chris Henry was the worst pick of the first day.
  • Brian Leonard going made Jeff Pasquino the diehard Eagles fan a sad, sad man
