Name | College | Height/Weight | |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Alan Branch | Michigan | 6'6" 324 lbs. |
Branch creates a new line of scrimmage about two yards deep in the backfield and he was doing that against some of the best lineman in the country, Big 10 country. If you need to know more here goes. His natural raw strength allow him to literally man-handle offensive lineman and his nose for the ball makes him a tremendous run stuffing and pass rushing tackle and that is a find in any year. Branch is a man-child and he will immediately improve a defense. |

2 | Amobi Okoye | Louisville | 6'2" 302 lbs. |
Okoye's best asset is not only his youth but his ability to carry more weight and play between the tackles and his ability to lose weight and play on the edges. He has a great motor and is very athletic which helps to add to an already great list of abilities. Versatile and hostile this young kid will be great one no doubt. His up-side is rare and there is no risk involved with taking a player at 19 when he's this good. |
|||
3 | Justin Harrell | Tennessee | 6'5" 300 lbs. |
Harrell is one bicep injury from being perhaps the best tackle in the draft. He splits double team with ease and like Branch has a nose for the ball. He is the classic huge D-tackle with tree trunks for legs but is more athletic than the classic tackles of yester-year. If he doesn't miss most of the season he could easily be a top fifteen pick in this years draft. One team will benefit greatly from Harrell's injury as he slips right to them in the draft. |

4 | Marcus Thomas | Florida | 6'3" 314 lbs. |
Thomas is a caged tiger who just flat out wants to hit something. He plays the game angry and I just love that to no end. His problems off the field could throw a wrench into the works but it seems that the off-field problems are being addressed by him and his agent. On the field he is a player and the kind of player that excites his teammates and the crowd. Let him loose on the gridiron and he'll outplay his draft stock by a mile. |

5 | Tank Tyler | NC State | 6'2" 306 lbs. |
Tyler is an anchor and an anchor is a great thing to be in a league where more and more defenses are going to the 3-4. He had 42 reps in the bench at the combine and he uses his strength and long arms very well. The only part of his game that seems flawed is his character issues and that is becoming more of a "red flag" with every arrest that occurs in the NFL. |
|||
6 | Brandon Mebane | Cal | 6'1" 309 lbs. |
Mebane is small but he is lightning in a bottle. If you give him any gap he has the leg drive to get by you and then explode into the backfield. He does a great job of maintaining leverage and that helps to offset his lack of size. The problem is that he will have to remain either near or on the edges because of his size but his quicks will land him in a 4-3 defense where he could be turned loose on QB's. |
|||
7 | Quinn Pitcock | Ohio State | 6'3" 299 lbs. |
Pitcock has exceptional work ethic and simply outworks O-lineman. There are questions about his stamina overall but he does work on every play and does not take plays off. He lacks great fundamentals and tackles with his arms far to much. His straight line speed is very good but he lacks the difference making athleticism to get away from cut blocks. A few question marks about his agility and pass rush, may cause him to drop in the draft. |
|||
8 | Ryan McBean | Oklahoma State | 6'5" 286 lbs. |
McBean loves football and it shows with his enthusiasm on the field. He has a great motor and really gets after the ball but most of all he is nasty. He has very good speed as well but he has a tendency to leave his teammates behind as he tries to make a play on the QB. If he could improve his run stuffing ability and play more toward the team aspect he could be a very good player in the NFL. |
|||
9 | Paul Soliai | Utah | 6'4" 344 lbs. |
Soliai is a very good football player who loves to drive guys to the ground rather than just tackle them. He is a question mark on several fronts beginning with character (suspended for team rule violations) and his agility which he lacks sorely. In a league where 3-4 is spreading like wildfire, a nasty brick house of a guy would fit right in and keep blockers away from the backers. |
|||
10 | Quintin Echols | Kansas State | 6'1" 328 lbs. |
Echols is another guy who makes the list because he is an anchor of a man and would make a solid backbone in a 3-4. His athleticism is suspect but for a man his size it is impressive at times. He uses his arms very well and is hard to block as he sheds blockers very well. He could stand to lose some weight to improve his mobility and if he can improve his quicks he could be a great player in the NFL. |
