2008 OT Rankings - Baca

1. Jake Long - Michigan 6-7/313

He is just as sound and consistent as you are going to find, I saw him get beat cleanly only once in the past two years. He is a team player who loves and protects his teammates and he will make a great addition to any team drafting near the top of this draft.

2. Ryan Clady - Boise State 6-6/319

Add water, wait till August and watch Clady bloom into an elite tackle. Great form with good strength and you can't go wrong. Clady may be more finesse that power but his skills are enough to get him draft very early on day one.

3. Chris Williams - Vanderbilt 6-6/320

Chris will work in any style of offense because he is physical and works pretty well in space. He needs work and will sometime play soft but when he’s on, he’s very good. He has all the attributes and the talent to be a first day starter in the NFL.

4. Carl Nicks Nebraska 6-5 330

Carl is very powerful and has sound technique but I wonder if he is quick enough to hold the edges. He has good leg drive though and his use of his long arms and hand placement are top notch

5. Gosder Cherilus - Boston College 6-7/319

Gosder is a brick S**T-house of a man and he was man handling defensive ends in pass protection and moving piles in the run. He was exposed a little against the speed rush and will need to work on lowering his hips and absorbing the bull rush technique rather than trying to overpower it.

6. Jeff Otah - Pitt 6-6/340

Jeff lacks that initial burst a little but gains the advantage on the defender with great leg drive and form. If he can increase his initial burst off the line he could shine in the NFL.

7. Chad Rinehart - Northern Iowa 6-5/305

Chad looked phenomenal in Indy and showed some very good form and he is rising fast in the rankings. His explosion off the line is what gets the most attention and he plays a nasty brand of football to boot.

8. Sam Baker - Southern Cal 6-5/315

Sam came into the season with all the hype that surrounded every USC player but failed to achieve the lofty expectations placed on him so he will have something to prove this off season. His injury will also leave teams with a number of questions.

9. Heath Benedict - Newberry 6-6/320

Heath is a big powerful man that also has great footwork and is comfortable in space. He has a great punch when run blocking but will need time to develop as a pass blocker, especially with the jump up in competition. There is no doubt he will develop quickly however.

10. Anthony Collins - Kansas 6-5/320

When you see Collins block you see an angry man who really loves the physicality of the sport. Anthony could well go early in the second round, attitude is a terrific attribute on the line. He does need to improve his footwork and balance against speed rushers.

11. Kirk Barton - Ohio State 6-6/300

Kirk is a tough and gritty player who loves the contact of football but his knee injury may cost him with his draft stock. He already lacks lateral speed and a knee injury could cause some question about his mobility.

12. Mike McGlynn - Pittsburgh 6-5/315

Mike is not a powerful lineman but is good in open space and that could cost him a little because he has the quicks but he needs to be more of a physical presence.  He may find a home inside in the NFL

13. John Greco - Toledo 6-5/320

John has good form and can move a pile with his leg drive but still needs some work with his hand placement as well as his footwork in open space. A great in-line run blocker but not very athletic in open space.

14. Oneil Cousins - Texas-El Paso 6-4/301

Oneil is very raw and is more suited for the right side but his vast improvement has him rising in the eyes of NFL scouts. He's a great athlete but there is some work to be done if he stays at tackle, inside he would be a far better fit.

15. Tony Hills - Texas 6-6/305

Tony was a driving force for the Longhorns but a knee injury that ended his seaon will be much more than just a question mark for a kid that otherwise was a powerful tackle.

16. King Dunlap - Auburn 6-8/312

Great at times in the run but overall lacks the consistency.

17. David Hale - Weber State 6-6/308

David is a punishing lineman but his base breaks down and he will need some work before he is a starter in the NFL.

18. Barry Richardson - Clemson 6-7/331

Barry is another tackle that struggles against speed and in open space so his stock may be hurt because he is most likely a right side only offensive tackle. He is a monster however so a team with a power, off tackle style of football will love him.

19. Mike Gibson - Cal 6-4/308

Mike has great initial burst and a great punch that O-line coaches love to see but his heavy legs will cause teams to hesitate on him as a tackle.

20. Geoff Schwartz - Oregon 6-7/337

Geoff is a good in-line blocker but his tendency to get too high may place him as a one position guy.

21. Tyler Polumbus - Colorado 6-7/ 305

Tyler is a good athlete and strong enough to play in the NFL, but is not a natural tackle and that may hurt is stock.

22. King Dunlap - Auburn 6-8/312

Great at times in the run but overall lacks the consistency.

Also…

Duane Brown - Virginia Tech 6-5/280

Franklin Dunbar - Middle Tennessee 6-5/328
