Cover 2 - QB Colt Brennan
by Cecil Lammey & Sean Baca

High Side
Lammey

Brennan’s stock is falling fast, but there is plenty to be excited about when evaluating this prospect. He is arguably the most accurate passer in NCAA history. His mechanics are not traditional, but he has good anticipation for when his receivers are about to come open, and moves well behind the line of scrimmage to get a clear throwing lane. He will never be mistaken for a scrambler, but he has enough athletic ability to buy time when looking downfield. When he does decide to run his quick feet allow him to pick up decent yardage. Brennan is not the most physically imposing QB prospect, but he is a fiery leader that knows how to win, and perhaps most importantly, he commands the respect of his teammates.

Low Side
Baca

Taking the low side of this cover-2 would have been a lot more daunting in September, before the bowl game and Mobile. The way it stands now, Colt has plummeted in the rankings and perhaps is falling into the category of “system player.” Perhaps that is a little harsh considering the success he enjoyed at Hawaii but a lack of arm strength was revealed in Mobile and more importantly, a lackluster physique. His thin frame may have told an even greater story than his performance on the field. Height and weight certainly are not on the top of a scout’s priority list but the NFL will grind down a strong man, it will grind out a weak one.
